University of B.C. students are filming a series of videos called “We Are Jose,” which will be placed on YouTube early in 2011. They are in support of Jose Figueroa, who is facing deportation to El Salvador.
Jose Figueroa is a married father of 3, over 15 year resident of Langley BC, well respected member of his community. In May, 2010, the IRB ruled he was inadmissible to Canada and a ‘national security threat’ for his peaceful association, as a student in college over twenty years ago, with the FMLN (Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front) now the democratically elected government in El Salvador. This makes no sense and many are joining their voices to protest see www.wearejose.com
Canadian goverment is so out of touch with salvadorian reality. They need to updated and refresh the information at the same time salvadorean people are mistreat and are getting fire from work in the public sector with nobody step in out to defend them. Aparently you have to be a sucker or a pleaser in order to be part of the gangs at work and for the bosses to like you and keep you. Being a good and a dedicated worker is not goodenough any longer.
